hi guys
firstly im new to this forum so hello to all.

secondly i hope someone can help me. i have recently got hold of a dell xps 730 from a family member, great because i got it for free, bad because he worked for an it company and they, by their policies, had to take the memory and hard drives because he used it for a work computer and as such had their files on it.

so not too much of a biggy but i dont know the specs of the computer and dont know what memory to put in, is there any memory out the that is good but not over the top price wise?

and i like to think myself fairly computer literate but im getting confused with this one, can i put any version of windows on it, only i read somewhere it was only compatable with various versions of windows vista? only i would like to stay away from vista and go with windows 7 or back to xp?

cheers guys and gals any help would be awesome

p.s just an after thought with the memory, i wouldnt be using the pc as a top spec gaming setup so the memory wouldnt have to be imense.

cheers again:)

I cant see why you wouldnt be able to put 7 on it assuming the CPU is up to it.

I couldnt tell you off the top of my head what kind of RAM it will take, probably find that on the Dell site but I think crucial has tool on their site where you put in the make and model and it tell you what memory to use.

As for what brand, anything name brand will be good, Crucial, Corsair, Kingston anything like that.

I'd say go for 4GB if it will take it, but 2 GB will be sufficient.

Dont go with XP, it is a seriously outdated OS.

mate thats awesome ive spent weeks looking for this cheers mate.

you say min7 would you go 32x or 64x? dont really know the difference to be honest

thanks again buddy
