Help with a scorpion please

A friend has told me this evening that her 17 year old son has brought home a scorpion. He doesn't know what type it is but was told by the bloke he bought it off that the poison has been removed. It is about 3-4 cm long and is a browny red colour.

My friend is concerned that they don't know anything about this beastie and whether this poison removal thing is true.

If anyone can help, she would be most grateful.

RSPCA? Vet? Common sense? i.e, don't touch the fekka, find out who it was bought from, get more details that can be verified, such as is he a legal distributor?

You can not remove a scorpion poison without killing it, as the poison glands are internal. So the genius that sold you it, is laughing at you. You want to do a google on this. :eek:

General tip..

The larger the pincers in relation to the body the less poisenous it is.
If it has tiny pincers. Be very carefull.
