Help with AM3 retail heatsink and fan install

I'm trying to install a Phenom X4 955 with a retail heat sink and fan into a Asus M41785TD-V Evo motherboard and im struggling

I have sat the heat sink in the correct position but can only get one retention clip on one side at once with the retention lever in any direction

they can be stuburn buggers

i normally put longest finger on one of the silver bracket and thumb on other side of silver bracket make sure you have the release catch in unlocked postion. clip over the one silver side which will lock in place then with thumb push down the other side with clip on till it goes over the little plastic notch. this might be a bit stiff. you will hear it clip on when it goes.

then just adjust the plastic leaver to locked.
