Hi, I'm new to OC'ing and am seeking some guidance from forum regulars on the best way to go about oc'ing my PC.
Firstly to give you an idea of the hardware I'm working with:
AMD64 4000 cpu San Diego
2x512mb Corsair TwinX PC4400 DDR550 RAM 2.5 latency
Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe mainboard
1x XFX 7800GT Extreme Ed
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music
Tagan 580w sli psu
I've tried OC'ing and the best I can manage is 2.65ghz achieved via AI Booster - a program I think I would prefer to bypass.
I'm wondering if there are others out there with similar systems who may be able to guide me around Bios and suggest what settings I need to achieve an OC of about 2.7 - 2.8ghz, and a 3dmark05 score around the 8,500 mark - I have achieved a best of 7,700 so far.
I am getting to grips with Bios, but am desperate to make the most of my system - in particular my £150 sticks of RAM - I was considering replacing them with some good Corsair XMS pro sticks but would rather make the most of what i've got.
Despairingly, I only recently discovered that my mobo only supports RAM up to DDR400.
But after looking into things I found a host of top-end PCs that use similar mobos and successfully run this type of high end oc'ing RAM, how do they do it?
I have already had a go at Oc'ing using the handy guide in this forum - I will post my results up when I'm back from work to give you an idea of what I've been doing so far...
In the meantime if there's anyone who can provide a 'framework' of the bios settings I need to achieve a decent overclock I would be ETERNALLY grateful if they would be able to help!
