Hello,

I just upgraded from an Nforce 2 platform to the A8V Deluxe motherboard and was wondering if someone could offer some help!

Firstly, the board was purchase 2nd hand so I have no driver disk and secondly I have 2 SATA drives installed but don't want to run in Raid.

So far I managed to get the following drivers:

Marvell Gigabit LAN Driver - download latest version from Marvell and seems to be working ok
VIA 4 in 1 - version 510A

The following drivers are a bit of a mystery:

Audio - I downloaded WDM_A399 for Realtek but not sure if there the correct ones
USB 2.0 - Do I actually need this with XP and service pack 2
VIA 6420 RAID controller - Again do I need this if not using RAID
Promise FastTrak 378 Driver - As this is disabled in BIOS (I think) and my SATA cables are not connected to them, again do I need the drivers?
AMD Cool 'n' Quiet Driver - Tried to find this but only found Linux version on AMD's site.

Any help would be appreciated, I forgot what having a VIA platform was like LOL.

Lastly, is there a tutorial etc. regarding the latest BIOS for the board and the settings?

Many thanks....

Hi,

A couple of links if found might be of use

Asus A8V Tricks, Tips guide

and

Overclocking with the Asus A8V

Not too sure about those audio drivers they could be the newer version of the ones on the Asus webby anyways heres a link to the ones on the asus website

Audio Drivers

The USB 2.0 on this board is a bit of a pain to get working, well it was for me, definately need those USB 2.0 drivers.

USB 2.0

Wont need the raid controller i dont think as your not running those HDDs in a raid configuration

The 378 driver i needed to get windows xp to detect my sata HDD when doing an installation, needed to have it on a floppy disk might be useful to have

and cool and quiet is an optional thing, not really needed, i havent used it and ive had the board for three years now
