Hi all. I bought a 2001 Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 just over 2 months ago and it's great. I've posted this thread as I don't know much about cars and would be grateful of some help. I always hear of people saying that they have a Y reg etc. whereas I don't know what mine is. My license plate number is: PKZ5793. Would anyone be able to help me because I was having a nosy on the Halfords website for some new wipers and it said that a P reg was registered in 1996/97  When I go to enter 2001, it has a Y in brackets and 2001/2002 has 52 in brackets...

Also, I always hear of people saying MK1 or MKII, would anyone know what my megane is? I don't have a baldy and know I'm probably going to get the **** ripped out of me for asking all of this but ah well :D

Edit: Oh, I'm just thinking.... my car must have been re-registered as I believe it was brought over from England and my Dad's car has a license plate starting with PKZ which is 2005 I think. Anyone any idea of finding out what reg my car actually is as I probably need it for getting new windscreen wipers and other things?

You have Northern Ireland plates, which won't correspond to the mainland prefix lettering or current dated style plates. (In 2001 we changed systems, so the first half of the year was Y prefix, the second half of the year was 51 dated style)

I've no idea if NI plates have a year based system or not really.

^^ That should help you figure out which mark you have and thus choose wipers appropriately. As your car is a 2001 it could be either a 1 or 2 I think, though I suspect it will be a Mk1. (edit - actually that wiki link suggests the change was in 2002, so it's most likely a Mk1, using 2001 (Y) should yield the correct wipers for your car)
