Would value any opinions to 4 lappies that i have in mind please. As I am currently living out of UK (in Cyprus) my options of brands is limited. Price around £1000

- HP 8710p (GC100EA) - currently on local promo offer with 3 gigs ram and a price reduction tag of approx £850 - 3 years guarantee

- Toshiba Satellite X205 - about £200 more than HP

- Dell Vostro - customised (downside - prob have to order & pick up on next visit home to UK & UK only warranty) - about £800

- Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31M - about £50 more than the HP

IMPORTANT POINTS:
gaming
good wireless connection
good quality screen - clarity & colour
adquate USB ports
reliability

NOT SO IMPORTANT:
mobility
navigation (use an external USB mouse)
battery life
possibility of downgrading to Win XP Pro (not too sure about having Vista).

Would be nice to have the little extras such as built in webcam, good sound etc but would sacrifice those for the important points.

Thanks so much for reading this.

Got a Vostro 1500 myself and it's a nice little gaming laptop. I paid £550 delivered for the spec in my sig. The 8600M GT in the vostro has DDR2 rather than the DDR3 in something like an XPS 1530 or the desktop 8600 GT, but it still offers good gaming performance IMO. You could happily play Oblivion, Doom 3, HL2 sorta stuff on it, but maybe Stalker/Crysis are just a bit too demanding (or you have to turn the settings down too much).

Can't compare it to those others, but I do think my vostro was good value for money. Of course your budget will stretch to an XPS so check those out too.
