...and a further update.

I've ordered:
1 x HoBao Hyper 7 TQ2 RTR Buggy with Hyper .21 Turbo Engine 2.4GHz Radio- Black »
1 x Optifuel Optimix Rtr 20% Nitro Car Fuel 1 Litre »
1 x Modelsport UK Professional 25 Nitro Fuel - 1 litre »
1 x Fastrax Platinum Turbo Glow Plug No. 8 Medium »
1 x Fusion Nitro Starter Set »
1 x Modelsport UK UK Silicone Fuel Tube - 1M (Blue) »
1 x Model Technics After Run Oil 1/4 litre »
1 x HPI Engine Air Filter Oil (50ml) »
1 x Ho-Bao Hyper .21 Cylinder Head Cover »
1 x Vitalbond Blue Non-Permanent Threadloc - 10ml V42 »
3 x Overlander Premium Alkaline Batteries - AA 4pack »

The concensus seems to be that the Hyper .21 is the better engine to go for and requires less tuning.

I've also agreed to buy a friends old Savage 25 and will use it as parts to get mine up and running (or vice versa).

I ran 1/8 scale for a couple of years. I tended to only stick with one type of fuel. Think I stuck with 20% on an OS VSpec. Ran a Kyosho MP777 and Xray 808. Tells you it was a good while ago

One thing we used to do was put the neck of a balloon round the engine and the throttle linkage. If you lose contact with the buggy, it will close the throttle. Failsafes don't always work.
