Hi, so unfortunately the little one smashed my ks9000 screen, and looking at current tv’s I’m out of the loop on which one to go for, my budget would be around £800 – £1200.

Tv usage- 80% of the tv would be used with a media pc. Also, Netflix, Disney plus and gaming, plans to upgrade to a PS5 in the future.

I have no limits on size so appreciate the best I can get for the budget.

Regards

LG OLED55CX5LB if top end of budget.

If want bigger and to save a few pounds, maybe look into Sony KD-65XH9005, but I'd personally go for an OLED and especially if planning to add a PS5.

If you can, get from John Lewis and add protect plus as get:

"Immediate accidental damage cover (including TV screen burn), no excess to pay."

Will you be plugging in an HTPC at any point? If so look for the ones with VRR and 120hz. Should be able to get an oled for that

I've brought the OLED55CX5LB should be with me tomorrow, i've got an old 970gtx installed in the HTPC, so i take it i wont benefit from the 120hz?

I believe you'll be able to do 1080p or 1440p 120Hz, or whatever the limitation is of the HDMI output on your 970 (I believe it's HDMI 2.0). You'll be limited to 60Hz at 4k though.

Congrats on your new tv, I'm sure you'll love it.

Ahhhh could this be why even though I have a 120hz TV and a 2.1 cable mine doesn't show up then? You need a 2.1 port on both the TV and gpu?

I've just got a 1080 and had a 2080 before, guessing only the 3000 series (and 6000 amd) gpus are 2.1 hdmi?

Was really wanting 4k or 1440p at least 120hz. Surprisingly even a 1080 can go well over 60fps on a lot of games

Yes only 30 series are HDMI 2.1.

10 and 20 series I think have HDMI 2.0b which should be able to do 1440p 120Hz but there might some limitations on color depth or you might have to fiddle around with settings. Make sure it's in game mode or PC mode or something.

Ahhh ahh no this makes perfect sense. Because I was changing colour settings to try get windows hdr working (whenever I turn windows hdr on it completely messes up the image brightness and can never get colours looking right), and remember setting to I think rec 2020 in control panel. Makes sense
