Heres how to save google and youtube vids

This site came in very handy for saving a few google videos, so thought id share

Youtube vids you will need something like RivaFLV encoder to change from the flv format or the FLV player that comes with it

You can just download google videos straight from Google anyway.

i personally use a plugin for firefox which is quite obviously called VideoDownload

dont suppose you know if that works for all media streams? specifically my GF found a stream of audio on relaxation on the BBC website, but I couldnt work out how to download it so she could get it onto a CD so she could listen to it in the garden....

Nope, just save the file as .avi instead of .flv and you can just play it in WMP

VLC player will also play .flv files.

iTube is good for downloading then formatting the videos into mpeg4 for iTunes.
