Heroes of Might & Magic 5 - Opinions Please

I have searched this forum and not seen a lot.

I've been slowly playing through HOMM3 as I never finished it originally (one of the half done games lost forever when my hdds borked) and I've always enjoyed this series. I didn't play HOMM4 as I heard it was awful from so many sources but I really like 1, 2 and 3.

I'm tempted to buy 5 at some point because I hear it's more like the first three. Has anyone here played it and, if so, can you let me know what you think?

I like it. It takes the series back to it's 'roots', i.e. it is much more like HOMM3 than HOMM4.

The tactical battles now seem slightly more involved, graphics are good and it seems an all-round improvement IMHO.

Loved 2+3, HATED 4, love 5

AI is incredibly difficult though

Get the patch to unlock easy mode (which is like 'normal' for most games)

Never played any HOMM game other than 5. If you enjoyed 3 then I suppose you know why I am hooked on this game. The world is beautifully crafted and the combat is great.

I'm not really sure what's really going on as I have not read the background to the game yet because i'm having too good a time playing the game.

I can recommend this game to anyone. If you in two minds to get it or not. Go for it. Having never played HOMM games before I couldn't comment on HOMM4. Having checkout out reviews (as I wondered what 4 was like after buying 5) it seems it was not good. The reviews I have read say 5 is like 3 and 2. They must have been awesome games then.

I think this going to be one of the most under-rated and over looked games of 2006.
