!** Heroes Of Newerth 24-Hour Open Beta period **!

its an excellent addictive game with thousands of players online every day but the learning curve is very steep for new players. i've been taking a break from hon and playing league of legends atm the community is more forgiving to be honest. i like both games.

I played LoL once, but not twice. I guess it's easier for new players to pick up but once you get good at HoN it's like taking a backwards step.

Indeed why take a step back when you can just get better at the proper game :D

i reached a point in hon where i knew all the heroes and didnt feel like i was improving any more. league of legends is addictive as well with all the unlocks and fresh heroes. both good games

dont know how u can get away with the terrible cell shading graphics. i know games ant always about graphics but those are hideous for a new generation, the jagged edges almost poked my eyes out.

plus the game generally sucked in comparison to HoN, as for HoN plenty of characters have been released, new additions and when it does get fully released the new maps and possibilities for custom content seem pretty good, aswell as the support from the Dev team. its a no brainer, plus you cant beat some of the rages in chat, its hilarious :D

Spot the person who hasn't played LoL at all.
"Oh I looked at the screenshots and the graphics look rubbish", ingame it's much less cluttered than HoN which is important in big fights with all the effects going off.

HoN is good if only for the better playerbase, the last 2 patches in LoL have really taken the game down a bad road and the next patch shows no sign of fixing it. Shame really, it was better than HoN, now I'd say HoN is better.

I suppose the upside is that LoL costs you nothing in the long run, providing you don't buy the boxed edition.

Someone needs to post up a guide for new players to be honest...and I don't mean "how to play" - they need a guide on how to avoid the leet community types :)

I love HoN...too much. I had to uninstall it and never look back :p

ive played LoL. still got it installed thank you. the screen shots actually make it look better than it was in game tho lol.

the majority of people ive spoke to who have played both say LoL isnt anywhere near as good and im the same.

and paying a well deserved £20 to a small developer always makes me feel warm inside so cost isnt something that really makes a difference. ive bought HoN but i wouldnt buy LoL because it just isnt good in comparison.

Player community aside HoN stomps LoL, and even then the player community is dependent on you playing well, if you dont do stupid things your generally not going to get verbally abused.

LoL is just more newbie friendly as your not abused, but if u want some serious gaming in line with the original game DOTA then HoN is where its at.

hi iam sorry to say this but i think LoL is a lot better than HoN once you get into the game n go deeper it expands a lot more n i found people to be nicer, n the game looks better aswell but thats wat i think!!

Atleast LoL had a pretty quick beta period and then was released unlike HoN which doesn't seem to be going anywhere and the god aweful community that is already giving the game a slow painful death!

HoN is very good IMO, there are a lot of idiots and trolls, and it's more "competitive" than LoL which seems less hardcore than hon which is probably why it has less rage.
The hon forums are really awful, almost every thread is full of people just whining about imbalance, or people trolling those whiners, or people just spamming memes "COOL STORY BRO".

They release a patch every friday night/saturday and they'd been releasing 2-3 new heroes every 2-3 weeks (average 1 new hero/week) until they just reached 60 heroes a couple of weeks ago.

They run and irc channel, with a link to a more private beta forum and they release most of the patches a few days earlier on there to test them and get feedback.

 It's in BETA phase, with increasing user numbers...

LoL has micro-transactions, which is a major down side.

Not going anywhere? It gets 1-2 patches per week adding heroes and features. They're not gonna release it until it's ready.
