hg612 and tp link ax1800 router

hi there

Im on Plusnet fibre extra and get about 74mb , which is about right

I have unlocked the HG612.

Im using the HG612 as modem and the AX1800 as router. Following some posts on this forum Ive left the modem as factory in bridge mode and setup the router using the wizard to PPOE. It all works.

I understand that they both have firewalls do I need them both on?

Are there any other duplicated setting that may be causing lag ( I was in game yesterday and someone was moaning that I was laggy this has not happening with my previous BT Homehub)

You literally need to do nothing to the HG612 if it’s unlocked, it’s not a router, it’s a modem in bridge mode.

In bridge mode the firewall on the HG612 is irrelevant, as far as the Internet is concerned the device facing it is the router, hence the "bridge".

Factory reset the HG612 and connect it up to the router, job done.
