Anyway, I was speaking to the fella in my local PC shop today. I dont know if he was trying to flog me gear, but I mentioned my sandybridge plan.
He said I would be completely bonkers to consider spending all that money to play FSX and Total War. Complete overkill according to him. In fact, he was surprised my current PC struggled.
He has suggested replacing my components with:
Core i5 OC'd to 4ghz
Decent P55 mobo
8GB RAM
1TB Samsung F3
Nvidia 460GTX
He said that could take anything that these sims and strategy games could throw at it.
I could do this for around £500 now, but in the new year, i'll have around £2k thanks to a generous bonus scheme at work.
A really fast rig would be great, but if I dont utilise it, I could be chucking money down the drain.
What would you do?
