Anyone thinking of getting a pair of these dont bother :(
I went into millets to replace my long serving -7years- Brasher hillmaster's and the sales person convinced me to get the Hitec Ion mask boots. What a mistake, they are bloody awfull. Went out for a walk only about 5 miles and in the rain I come home and my feet are soaking wet 100% waterproof my arse

I knew I shouldndt of got them must have been having a bad day I dont normally get caught by sales staff I think the thing that done it was when he said they won the gadget show best walking boot

When I got home I threw the vid up on the Gadget show website. What a joke  a walking boot review, all they did was get Brian Blessed -who has odd feeet by his own admission- to put on three pairs of walking boots give them a quick squirt with a Supersoaker water pistol and then tell us witch are the best boots htey are having a laugh to be honest.

Anyway Millets gave me a full refund and thay said it wasnt the first pair they had back this week. I am off to get some Brasher like I should have done in the first place.

should have got a pair of the Hi-Tec Eurotrek, never had such a good pair of boots. Waterproof and comfortable.

Gadget show best walking boots - lol :)

I must admit though I was curious about that ion-mask technology, having read about it years ago - guess I know now.

I was told yesterday in shop that anything Gortex is taped on the seems so water cant get in at the stitching.

On the Hitec Ion mask boots they dont put any protection on the seems and this is the weak point...funny how they tell you this stuff on return of item dont remeber them saying that when they sold them to me lol

I use North Face Hedgehog XCR because I like to walk, jog and run.

They are fantastic, light and very stable. They flex and angle at the toe/ball of foot area which helps with agility and fully gortex lined so waterproof - they will replace them free of charge if they leak.

In this cold weather even with just one medium weight sock they are very warm, surprisingly so actually!

Plenty of grip, very comfortable and light but still plenty rugid enough for tougher surfaces.

funnily enough I was thinking my old KSB's need replacing after this big lot of snow, they are about as waterproof as my slippers now

was thinking of some meindl softline ultra GTX or merrel outbound goretex..its really not for anything big, the usual stuff in the lakes or upper teesdale, but I always prefer lighter boots so prefer the fabric/goretex mix

anybody got any experience with these or some alternatives?

The Meindls are comfy - almost bought a pair myself!

Sounds like the OP must have had one of the earlier pairs of Ion Masks. IIRC there were serious problems with the initial batches, which they then sorted out.
