Hiper Type-R 580 or Enermax 600w

as the title which one would you lot go for?

the enermax costs around 20 quid more than the hiper power psu. is the extra 20 bills worth it?

Enermax.

I currently have a hiper, and the first opportunity I get, im ******* throwing it in a lake! Its doing my ******* nut in here at i27, keeps overheating and turning off (and no CPU/CASE/NB/GFX temps are fine!).

Both are very good, so its personal preference unless one has more of something than the other, like connectors that you may need. I have bot Enermax psu and hiper psu and can't fault either, both excellent at what they do.

enermax due to the hiper being many things which i cant be bothered to go into, lol just go with enermax or another well respectable brand and you will be happy

Mine does that! I hadn't thought it was overheating but next time it shuts off I'll check how hot it is.

My Hiper Blew up (Quite Literally as well

, Bang, Sparks and Smoke) and that was just from BRAND NEW putting it in my System, hooking it up to the mains and flicking the power switch on the back on!!!

Maybe mine was a 1 off, but I dont want to risk another one...

thats it, im sticking to enermax psu. my current 550watt one is not too bad but its the older type thats got a super high 5v rail ampage of 46a. 12v is 24a.

i can get a enermax 535w psu for £55 and it has dual rail 12v with 18a on each rail. would that be good enough for me with my soon to arrive x1900xt?
the 600w enermax costs £70 so not sure if the extra outlay is worth it for me or not?

yours isnt the only one thats done that although mine happened when i booted it up

agree, but not for the same reasons

i've had two Hiper Type-R's and they're both poor quality PSUs... should be getting a nice Seasonic after the weekend

Did you have the black one or the blue/red/green LED one?

In my experience the black one is fine, the LED ones much less so.

guess im better off with the extra money on the enermax psu.

now not sure which to plump for the 535w or 600w. :confused:

tbh I think hipers are very hit and miss in whether they work or not. I've had mine in my 3800 rig since I had it and it's clocked to 2.6. Where are you in i27 paradigm? I'm @ GF-AP8

Not had any heat issues here lol.

Ahh, i was gonna get a Hiper PSU for my future build but i guess Enermax is better..

black hiper here too...

as i said, it seems to work fine and seems stable but its build quality is shoddy...

even the ruddy supplied PCIe connector doesn't fit into a PCIe graphics card power supply because the connectors haven't been rounded enough in places!
i'm having to use a 2x molex to 1x PCI converter :-/
