Hiper Type-R 580 or Enermax 600w

nikebee contact hiper, they will send a new one out (a friend had the same problem), I suspect they had a dodgy molding, he emailed them, got an RMA for the cable and sent it off, 3 days later he had the new one (it only cost 52p or something to send the bad one off in a jiffy bag as they are based in the UK).

Oddly enough another friend who bought one from the same retailer a month or so earlier didn't have problem, nor was there a problem with molex adaptor included in the box (I suspect one mold out of dozens was damaged).

I would highly recommend the enermax over Hiper.

I had the hiper 580w before and after a month. The voltages degraded (cant think of another word) and then the system started crashing. Sold the sucker straight away and got myself a OCZ Powerstream 600w to replace it and wow, what a difference.......

"I got mine 5 months ago and it is running great."

same i think, but i wonder if it's the PSU overheating thats causing my random PC restarts, but the PC doesnt switch off it stays on but the monitor says "Mode not supported" and the mouse freezes and the sound is just one long beep pretty strange coz it doesnt happen during games or anything just desktop or while watching a video.

Its well known that there was a lot of dodgy hypers sold a few months ago that all went kaput. My 580w however has been powering an overclocked opty and an x1900 over xtx speeds fine for a few months now.

But if I had to buy again I would avoid the hyper.

Go with the Enermax.

I've been using a 620W Liberty since late November with no problems, before that i had a 470W Noisetaker which was also trouble free. The Noisetaker is now used in my second pc, an overclocked 2.8GHz P4, that is mainly used for folding. Both psu's are very well built, quiet and stable.

I agree with your finishing touch :)
