Since im 18 i cant hire car for my self.

Now me and my Girlfriend my be going away in July to a place where i will probably need a 4X4.

So if i got mum to hire the car for me under her name then would i still be allowed to drive it?

Ie, Be able to take the 4x4 on holiday?

Thanks :)

Edit: i know im not from the UK but i dont ahve anyone else to ask and i dont think the laws will be too different

It would also be technical TWOC as the hire company are hiring the car to your mum not you, therefore you wont have permission to drive it.

As already said would not be covered by insurance

I hope you are not going to Fraser Island :D

I was looking up car hire, came across a website company that would hire to over 21's then there was the option of Young driver (under 21) or younger driver (Under 19).

Cant for the life of me find it though and im desperately after it for when we go Newquay this year...

Don't you dare come down here! That goes for the rest of you. I want to be able to get to work on time and not have you clueless emmits who dont know where there going slow me right down. :p

The man has a good point...I don't live in Cornwall, but the A30 gets cloged up with the holidaymakers who think the South West is all lovely and green, go to Wales, just as green and more interesting! :p

As for hire companies, I haven't a clue, as has been said if they won't hire directly to you, check if you can be a named driver on the policy, or run around on google and find one that does hire to under 21s.

Simple solution. Get the train to Plymouth, then buy my Vitara, would look great around Newquay :D:D

Zip, honestly. How are we supposed to know? None of us live in Australia, none of us are familier with the policies of Australian rental companies and funnily enough none of us know much about Australian insurance law.
