Ive had my HIS X1900XT Silent Heatpipe for few months now ever since i upgraded my spec. But since now its seems to make a loud noise coming from the fan that i can even hear when im out the room.

It seems ok when i start the computer. And once booted up on to the desktop theres no noise for about half an hour then it just kicks in.

Ive also contacted HIS support and they say it could be the fan touching the rim of the circular opening and ive checked and its not that.

Could this be to do with my psu or something? Also the even though the card is noisey it still performs great when it comes to gaming

Temperature is at 42C according to the catalyst control centre.

There is also a bit of dust in the card.

How do i go about sorting this? :)

Cheers :)

I assume that is the idle temp, when your not playing games. Maybe run ATi Tool and see what temps it goes to.

You should clean the dust out. I recommend blowing it out, keeping the fan still so it doesn't generate a current back into the card.

When performing the ATI tool test the Card went to temperatures over 70C

Thats not good i take it?

The Fan was just starting to speed up to handle the temps but that noise that im on about is still there.

Il try blowing out the dust and see what happends

Cheers

Does the Heat Sink and Fan (HSF) appear to be loose at all? Worst come to the worst, you could always replace the stock HSF with one of these:-

Easy to do, and very worthwhile.

OMG thats so right i just push the fan up a bit and the noise it compleatly gone. hmmm that blu tack idear is nutts but worth a try lol.

Seems like i do have the dreaded HIS Rattle

Brilliant we should suggest this to HIS - some sort of Ultimate Silent Blu Tack edition!!

Or they could just fix the problem in the first place...
