Ok so it arrived today, installed new mobo and card and suddenly discovered it has a weird ass power connection and there's no adapter in the box :\

I'm still using an old 360W Chieftec power supply and it says it requires 450W.

Will it run with an adapter or do I need a new psu?

Those cards require a fair bit of power, you could try running with an adapter but I wouldnt be surprised if you need a new PSU.

New PSU

That PSU wont cut the mustard with a power hogging x1900 mate.

I would imagine even if you got an adaptor you would run into stability problems etc....

Depends what else its powering.

Just a SATA HD and a couple of fans, but I guess it's new PSU time.

Pretty annoyed there's not even an adapter in the box though, from what I've seen most other brands come with one :(

do you mean a pci-e (6hole) to double molex connection? thats a bit crappy if they havent even given you one of those.

If you buy a new decent PSU then it will have a pci-e connection on it anyway. (a la my 580hiper type-R)

I used to run a very old psu (cost £22 for the case and psu) and i ran into endless power problems, i think it was the cause of 3 knackered hard drives and memory problems aswell
