HIS Excalibur X1900 XT-X ICEQ 3 SILENT

I could either get a noisy XTX or an XT Silent (ie one of these)

I'm having trouble deciding on which.

Thing is apparently the XTX sounds like a helecopter.

Various people have different opinions. Depends on how tolerant of noise you are.
The Zalmon VF900's are meant to be huge amounts better in terms of noise, howeev some peopple claim these will limit your overclocks when you really push the card.

Well yeah it wont be any different, its only the fan they have replaced, your gona be so dissapointed if your expecting over 100fps increase, more pipes etc... from a fan, bloody hell that would be amazing. :p

You mean I don't get extra fps from a fan?

Its more the fact that the cooler design seems more efficient, so would hopefully run cooler and overclock more. All whilst giving less noise.
Guess it was not to be.

I'm gonna paint Go-Faster stripes on my X800XL

Yeah i know thats what you meant :D .

I thought it would have run cooler, and overclock more too, bit of a shame if it don't. :(

;)

For now hopefully a VF900 should keep it cool (when I get the X1900XTX anyway.....) not like I'm going to need to overclock to play games. :p

One day I'll probs end up watercooling....

Is it not down to your airflow in your case etc... as my x1800 XT idles at 55, and underload only goes to about 69, and it hardly picks up from its 2D windows speed, which you can't hear, certainly doesnt sound like a hairdryer, i can't hear it anyway, all i can hear is the game, i have to go right down to my case to pick the fan noise out, i think they have to get to around 80 for the fan to ramp up like it does at start up.

Im hammering Oblivion at the moment, and can't hear the fan at all, and thats really graphic intensive, and ive got it ramped to the hilt with HDR+AA and that.

I think it's the tone of the thing that winds me up on mine plus the fact it gave itself away to the Mrs when she turned the computer on!!! - I can defo hear it in gaming. Maybe I got unlucky :(

Totally wrong. According to others on this forum, it sounds like a submarine.

DIVE DIVE!
ROFL that was me talking about the startup sound on my X1800XT. :p I have no idea what the X1900XT/-X sounds like, but I would stick a VF900 on it anyway for the sake of it. :)
