Hi,
Im looking for bang for buck becuase I dont have a lot of money just to spend.
I want more power than my X800 is giving.
I have heard good things about the X1800 but Im a noise freak and didnt want to get it being to loud ;)

Now HIS have a silent edition I'm interested in getting it.
Couple of Q's.

Can it be unlocked to more pipelines?
Will there be a big noticable difference between the cards?

Full names:
HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1800 GTO ICEQ3 SILENT TURBO 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

So are you telling me you'd rather pay £160+VAT for an HIS X1800 GTO when you can have the far quicker X1800 XT for just £145 +VAT. That just don't make sense.

The main review came from Gibbos own testing a few months back. He attested that the 256MB version was 1-2fps higher at lower resolutions (1280x1024 or below), than the 512MB card, and lost ground at higher resolutions and filtering. So basically, look at 1800xt reviews, add a few fps at lower res, and take 20%ish *personal estimate* off at the very high end where it loses out due to having a lower framebuffer for filtering, textures etc.

His Gibbo-ness can probably shed better light than I can though ^^
