History: Giant diving boards at old lidos

I visited the old abandoned/locked Lido up in Reading this summer. Was really something. I have some pics somewhere I think. If i can find them I will post them here later.

Ah you are correct, my bad.

It closed down for years, loads of myths about why it closed down back when I were a lad, mostly death related.

I remember the flumes being awesome though. I must have been 4/5 at the time.

I remember a 15m bored in my old local swimming pool, was taken down for safety reasons.

All that's there now is a 2m spring bored

Used to love jumping off that thing as a kid.

I can sort of see why these were closed though. They're massive, costs for water and maintenance must be huge compared to an indoor one at a sports centre.

Pity really, they look amazing - especially the Plymouth one.
