History of FPS games

The thing that really strikes me, is how far graphics have come in such a relatively short space of time.

(also that remix of Moonlight Sonata is great)

no deus ex? i always though that was more of an fps than an rpg...

mind you, that was the thing about that game - you could play how you wanted. gung ho quake style with the rocket launcher or all sneaky and diplomatic.

Wow, 1996 for DN and Quake. Starting to make me feel old. That would mean I've been FPS gaming online for 15 years this year.

Interesting, need to add Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon originals for the PC and S.W.A.T. games. Looks like Bohemia Interactive are the only game devs holding off going down the console route.

I would have put Operation Wolf in there - think that was the first FPS I played. And, yeah, no Unreal 1, UT1, Halo or MOH:AA....rather glaring omissions.
