Hit a cyclist....

i have only back brake.. and i can honestly tell if at the speed he was doing none of the brakes would have helped.. i hit a car in the back and i couldn't stop for the love of god tried to avoid it everyway possible and still hit that damn MPV.. i guess less weight/thin tires change the breaking distance a lot.. also i hit it going UP the hill... so think about it :)

I can stop within 6ft but I did need to take it to a shop to sort the brakes out, I just couldn't get them set right.

Plus I don't go that fast :)

everyone needs to be aware of the ridiculous hipsters on their mono-braked (if you're lucky) "fixie" bikes

they generally deliberately equip the bike to be as unsuitable for riding in traffic conditions as possible, and even other cyclists hate them.

Your post, the links you posted, the attitude of the site you posted links from.

Then you need to read things more carefully. Did you see the post I quoted and was replying to? especially this part:

Do you not agree that is a disgraceful attitude to take?

Heres my posts:

To the OP, as said, sounds like you handled the situation very well. Stuff like this does shake you up, whichever side of the windscreen you're on.

What a lovely human being you are. Ironic you consider jumping a red light to be worthy of 'scum of the earth' yet in the next sentence exclaim glee at the thought of people dieing on the roads.

Here's a few links - have a good chuckle to yourself

Which part of that suggests I think all accidents are caused by cyclists? And the pages I linked to were just the first results from google, and are simply news reports showing the devastation caused by fatal road accidents. I didn't even read them to see who was at fault as its not important.

They generally just cant ride properly! just like a lot of drivers cant drive properly.

This subject always brings up so much anger its crazy, and its not just the keyboard warriors too, see it most days out on the road

*that can ride properly and safely

a few of you are good riders.... you're also generally the ones with at least one brake and sensible handlebars

i saw one of the fixie boys at one of my local events (i'm a cyclist, on and off road) who was riding a lo-pro track frame with a 24in front wheel and a 700c rear. no brakes at all, and 15 inch handlebars. head angle about 85 degrees. i dont see how that can EVER be safe in city traffic.

they can stop remarkably quickly brakeless, once they get the hang of it!! but it's still mental.

bull horns and a decent front brake for me, but all the gentle braking I do, I use my legs!
