To get to the electrical connections you will have to safely isolate the power. Looking up under the grey panel of the boiler will be three small screws. Once removed that will drop and the connections will be visable.

Your current thermostat will probably be wired to LS & LR. Those wires can be removed. You could reuse the cable to the receiver but it would be neater with a new bit of 5 core cable.

The receiver will need to be wall mounted near the boiler. It will require L & N from the boiler to L & N in the receiver. LS to 1 and LR to 3.

Or if the fuse spur for the boiler is close. Get L&N from there. Then re-use the two wires already going to the thermostat. This would save opening the boiler.

The old timer can be clipped of and disconnect ed from the PCB.

Hope that helps.

I was going to fit ours but as the boiler was new (<1yr) at the time I opted for an engineer fit.

Yes it obviously costs more but

1. It takes less time. The fitter was in and out in 25 mins.
2. If anything breaks it's on BG to fix. Not sure how true it is but the call center told me within 24hrs if they break it.
