Guys,

Bit torn on a decision, looking for a bit of advice...

As a lot of you know i work for Lloyds TSB, in July 07 i moved from the Lost and Stolen department to the Fraud Operations department as part of their resource planning team, so forecasting calls, arranging shifts, and things of that nature.

I made a great impact and cleaned up some procedures and was a major part in sorting out their poor service levels, and i've gone from a Band 8 to 6 in 6 months (baring in mind L+S i didn't move from an 8 in 5 years, albeit it only 1 full time) and now run that team as their team leader.

That is the backgroun, and a quick but of info...

Band 8 = dogs body / phone agent basic starting Band
Band 7 = higher duty, so deputy team leader or highly skilled phone agent
Band 6 = team leader
Band 5 = Ops manager
Band 4 = Senior Manager
Band 3 = Not Sure... lol
Band 2 = Top Manager, normally of entire areas i.e head of Fraud Telephony
Band 1 = Top Dog, i.e head of Fraud...

Ok, now in the middle of a massive restructure there is opporunties for a few more Band 5 positions, and with my current input working direct with Band 2 + 4s (normally unheard of as a Band 6) i am in a very good position to get a Band 5 position as a Fraud Ops Manager. So good on the CV for a large bank, backed up with my degree and few years experience in this role = good possibilites.

So a long term good plan, i think it pays around 23K and im in Southend so no travel costs, so not bad i guess...

Currently on 19K (likely to rise to 20 in April) but i can do basically as much overtime as i want, on top of my Rota'd days at 1.5x pay, on my days off 2x pay, so i have the potential to earn a lot more, but as time goes on the big manager want to reduce overtime.

Here is the problem... Band 5 = no overtime, but no doubt will be expected to work extra without being able to claim, as its Salary and bonus based.

So do i go for a Band 5 and get a bigger pay cheque but lose overtime and thus limit my potential pay but possible aid a long run career path... or keep the band 6 and monopolise the overtime which is likely to earn more then a Band 5...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Think about what you want in the long term. If it's a career you're after, then I'd suggest climbing the ladder.

Band 5 guaranteed money is better than slightly extra which could be taken away if your looking long term (1year +)

Depends how much overtime you need to do to earn the extra 3 or 4 grand before you even start getting more money than a band 5.

Not to mention the bonuses you would get at band 5.
