Looking to book a holiday to Spain this year with my girlfriend, particualrly looking at around Barcelona. Not in Barcelona itself but within travelling distance of it (by bus or train.)

I have been to Salou in Spain before, which is about 1 hour away, but seeing as I am rubbish with Geography, and also having only been to Spain once before I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of resorts to stay in.

We are not after heavy club style resorts (i.e 18-30) but also we don't won't it to be a bit of an old folks holiday...somewhere in the middle where we can relax after quite a busy year.

Hotel reccomendations are useful, anything 3* plus I am interested in, however its the resort areas themselves which is my main interest. Not that bothered about visiting Salou again as I have already been there.

Any advice welcome,

Tom

Llafranc/Calella near Palafrugell are v. nice, you can get the bus/train to Barcelona quite quickly from Palafrugell which is 15-20 mins walk from Llafranc & Calella.

Really really nice place, lovely beach and decent 'civilised' nightlife (i.e. more bars than clubs), as well as Arena which is a decent size nightclub if you want to go out properly once or twice.

For places to stay theres Kims Camping which is quite cheap 'n' cheerful camping with some mobile homes and apartments but also the hotels on the beachfront are all very nice with lovely restaurants and good food.

There's also an awesome waterpark quite nearby which is cool for a fun day out!

However this was about 4-5 years ago so it may have changed so might be worth trying to find some more recent reviews :)
