i would like to go to Canada this year for two weeks probably around April or May.

anyone have any good places to visit and holiday websites that might give me any ideas?

Depends on what you want to do??. Vancouver is a good destination for most although by that time skiing season will probably be over but definitely is a very picturesque place ie Rocky Mountains etc.

Other than Vancouver, theres Toronto which is the largest city in Canada and is quite close to the American border as well as Niagara Falls, which imho is something worth seeing at least once in your life. Tbh i spend a lot of time in Canada myself, was raised there for most of my life and other than Toronto and Vancouver...most of Canada is pretty barren ie cities are far and between as its a very large country. Most of the population of Canada is situated in and around the Toronto area so you will find most people will go there for a visit rather than anywhere else barring Vancouver that is. But theres plenty to do in Toronto around that time of the year, could always go catch a baseball game in the Skydome, now known as the Rogers centre...amazing stadium and theres also the CN Tower...again something worth going to see at least once in your lifetime and if you go up on a clear day you can pretty much see America...get some brilliant views from up there.
Lots to do around Toronto but when im there, its usually visiting my bro and kids out there so its a more chilled out holiday for me...dont do the touristy things lol.

I'd recommend going to British Columbia.

If you don't mind spending your two weeks having a look around then its nice to fly into Vancouver, spend a few days in the city and then head over to Vancouver Island.

I'd also recommend a trip up to Whistler, which is about two hours away. I lived there for two years and you can still ski in summer on the glacier, it has the most unreal mountain bike park in the world and is full of great scenary and summer activities.

Can't go wrong.

Pretty much all the major cities in Canada have a lot to offer and are well worth a visit. The 'best' ones being Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal, in that order.

Wherever you go I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Why not do a bit of a tour. A friend of mine went to Toronto, Niagra and used the train to travel to Calgary and then to Vancouver, stopping off on the way. You will then get to see a great deal of Canada (there is a lot of it to see!) in a relaxing manner.

I have been to Vancouver and Whistler for snowboarding and loved it. In all fairness, go anywhere in Canada, it is fantastic and I guarantee you won't want to come back. :)

EDIT: I have just been checking out the weather (boredom) and I would suggest waiting until the summer to visit Winnipeg, am I reading this right?

Now, that is cold!

Yeh your right, Winnipeg is mighty cold...i should know i lived near there for 3 yrs and it was friggin freezing...but then having a few days off from school because of 10 ft snow drifts was quite cool...
But yeh winters up there are extremely brutal and cold...very cold

Awesome man, yea vancouver gets a vote from me lol, say hello to my relatives while ** there and in Winnipeg lol :p over half my family have moved over there now lol, but i cant afford to go on hols there yet : :(

My Aunt and Uncle live just outside Toronto (Mississauga) and apparently it's not very safe in the city at night. During the days its okay and there seemed to be a lot of places to see when i went there in September.

I didn't go to the CN tower as its apparently really expensive, you have to pay to go up to each level. ( i dont know the exact details as i found this out from my cousin)

Toronto Zoo was good though it is huge so you have to be prepared to do lots of walking!!

Niagara Falls is a big must see. it was absolutely amazing (just dont forget your raincoat) even from a long distance away you can still feel the mist!
I wouldn't say the Maid of the Mist is worth it as you dont get to see much.
the town also has a lot of museums etc to go into.

there is also Niagara on the Lake which was nice, there were plenty of shops and we found a nice english pub :D (well everything else was really pricy!!)

We were told that Quebec is a no go as they don't like the english.

It depends where you want to go but I would definitely recommend to fly with Canadian Affair. They deal with Thomas Cook and My Travel. We went with My Travel and it was really nice. the flights were really cheap as well.

Well Mississauga is a ****hole tbh so no surprise there:p. Rest Of Toronto is ok though but then it is a city and you get city related crime there.
But then i live most of my visit in Oakville, just outside Toronto..much nicer and quieter than the city.

Or alternatively pay $30 i think and you get access to all the levels...i think thats what the price is..havent been there for quite some time myself. Why anyone would pay for separate levels is beyond me though.

Id definitely say the Maid of the Mist is worth it, the fact that the boat goes right into the falls itself is an amazing experience and the water is so refreshing...didnt bother with the raincoat myself as i like getting drenched.

Much like France tbh, they dont like the English there either:p. Although Montreal is a lovely city...a lot of culture and things to do there. In some ways i prefer it to Toronto, just dont like the stuck up snobbish french idiots there thats all.

Spawn - your comment on the Maid of the Mist. I didnt go on it personally but I did watch the boats

in the morning there was a lot of mist so the boat went up to it a little way then turned around

in the afternoon when the mist had settled a bit more, they went slightly further to the falls then turned around. no boats actually went into the falls, they got near then came back.

as for the CN tower, the leaflet I had, quoted more than $30 but as i was on holiday with my parents i didnt exactly have a say in where we went.

I agree Mississauga wasn't all that. to be honest it felt just like England. Is Oakville a large place??

Niagra falls was amazing to see, a must see at night. But i must admit i didn't enjoy the maid of the mist, i prefered to walk along the road and see it. I do recommend jet boating on the niagra river, it's bloody brilliant, maybe it was more fun because there was 30 rugby lads cheering and singing! We got an extra run down the rapids for it :p

Yeh i guess it depends on how bad the weather is and mist, the time i went was a few summers ago and it went quite deep into the falls but not right into it...well not literally...was fun all the same.

As i said i cant remember the exact price as again it was a few yrs ago, took my niece who was 5 at the time up there...she seemed to enjoy it as i did but we got caught in a freak thunderstorm that just appeared out of nowhere really...was cool listening to the lightening hit the tower tho.

Oakville is quite large, not as big as mississauga tbh, but its a city in itself...quite an affluent area as well..one of the most affluent areas in all of Canada...got quite a few mega millionaires living there. They seem to have the monopoly of houses that back onto Lake Ontario. Tried to buy a house that backed onto the lake but ended up going a bit further ie away from the lake but its about 10 min walk from where my house is at the moment.

While i was on tour in Canada i was at one of those houses, it was amazing. Walk down the stairs to the beach and the water was beautiful at night. I can't remember the location of the house but it was quite a few hours drive out from Toronto. Another house has their own private lake where we had a bbq :D
