Hello all,

I am lucky enough to be going to Australia for christmas i will be going for 18 days.

Now i wanted to know, do i need a visa to stay that long?

If not is it as simple as getting on the plane and just filling out a boarding card?

I'm going for 3 weeks over xmas as well - you need a travel visa.

http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/eta.htm I didn't pay anything but there are places that charge £20 ish.

No you have to get one and you enter your passport number when you purchase it so when you go through security they see you have it. You can get one online.

Yes, one is the electronic version which is no effort for them thus free, the other one takes work so will cost. Read the website for further information...

Out of interest how long do these things take to process i submitted my form on Saturday, received my auto reply on monday but haven't heard anything since.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm Fox?

Oh right, you mean post something useful.

I got my electronic visa thingy within 2 hours. I also applied for a working travel VISA a bit later and got that within 2 hours as well.

I had no idea I needed a Visa when I went recently. Got to the airport and the checkin desk realised I didn't have one - they sorted it all out for me, for a fee

I didnt realise i needed one either.

I leave on the 15th of December and i applied for my Visa last saturday!

I just cant believe it has taken so long.

Did you do it on the Australian visa website?

This email refers to your application for an eVisitor, which was lodged electronically on 31 March 2009.

The department wishes to advise that a decision has been made on this application and you have been granted an eVisitor on 31 March 2009.

Same day.
