I am on the lookout for some good holiday deals for the june period. I will be going with my girlfriend and we aged 19-21, we enjoy a good nighlife and good food, beaches etc etc

Last september we went to puerto rico which was good but we fancy somthing a bit different on our next holidays.

We are thinking about going to sham el sheikh (egypt)

I have heard positives from people who have been to sham el sheikh.

The place looks beautiful, good nightlife, beaches look stunning and the package holidays seem excellent price (online)

For example

Destination Sharm el Sheikh
Dep Date 11 June, 2006
Cost £445 per person
Dep Point Cardiff
Duration 14 Nights
Share basis (Adult) 2 (Child) 0
Rating 3* Tour operator's own rating
Board basis Half Board
Accomm type Hotel

Would anyone who has been on hollidays recommend other people to go here? I have heared that egypt is rough but isnt that in cairo etc?

Thanks for the reply's

Also can anyone recommend the best place online to book? Anyone had any good experiences with a certain company etc?

Cheers guys.

We went to the Taba (the Marriott) back in February & Sharm is very similar by all accounts so I'd recommend it to anyone.
Great weather & beaches, stunning diving & friendly people, they have to be really though.
We booked through Peltours & were thoroughly impressed with the whole holiday:)

I've been to Sham el sheikh several times when I was younger and lived in the middle east. And it is still one of my favorite spots i've been on vacation. It is a very touristy area with pretty much the whole beach front (very long IIRC) is a long boardwalk with hotels, restraunts, and general vacationing things. When my family used to go we took a fast ferry there and had a several hour taxi ride to get there, but i'm not sure how far the airport is from it.

Bear in mind that i'm working from vauge memories from 7 or 8 years ago and may not be completly correct. :p

EDIT: We also used to stay at the Marriot aswell, a very nice hotel, with pretty good food aswell if I remember right.

far far too touristy, been there 3 times, el gouna 3times, hurghada 1ce cairo 1ce out of all id goto el gouna again, it was good, though the diving is ok at sharm ;]

My mum and dad went last year, they really hated it, said it was too hot and the food was awful even though they stayed in the hilton (think that's where they stayed), they also got really ill but they don't know if it was from the heat or the food.

I went to Sharm last Novemeber and it was fantastic. The hotel was 5* pure luxury and the people couldn't do enough to help, you rarely managed to put your empty glass down without there being another to take its place.

The hotel was spotless, it was cleaner than my car's paintwork! The guy who cleaned our room hoovered inside the drawers! and polished *everything* every single day we were there, I wanted to bring him back home and set him away in my house!

As I was there with my brother and neice I didn't really leave the complex much to experience any nightlife so I can't comment on that but the beaches were excellent and the snorkelling/scuba diving was unbelievable.

I'm gonna go back again for Christmas. Normally I go back up home to Newcastle but this year I'm gonna spend it in the sun with somebody else making my bed, bringing me food :)

We stopped there on our "Red Sea Magic" Cruise

It was very warm, the beach went on for miles and miles and the mountains are very picturesque

Some photos i found :) ignore me and my sister

Went there over Xmas and as Eidolen says, the hotel's are spotless. The diving and snorkling is amazing, and the views are stunning. Saw plenty of amazing fish, including flying fish which had to be my favourite :)

The people were amazingly friendly (little annoying in Narma Bay though when walking through the shopping areas) and yes it's very touristy. There's not a huge amount to do really, but it's very chilled out and laid back. A great place to relax. :)

we are off to Makadi bay in Egypt on December , research has shown there is very little to do but it cost next to nowt so I will just laze about for a week and drink the all inclusive booze , not my idea of a holiday but the missus likes this sort of thing

i have just come back from a week there, we stayed at the coral sea resort,(which is 4 star) the food was ok, no more, the beer was awful as was the spirits, got to the point where even tho it was all inclusive and i was out with girls / guys i met on holiday i had no intrest in drinking it anymore.

i did not think it was that hot, but all the time i was there it was a bit windy, which bugged some people but i liked, i dont like been roasting hot all the time, never went on any of the big trips as we were only there for a week.

If you want a good nite out when you get there, get a taxi into narma bay and get yourself to pacha with some people from your resort, its a cool niteclub, but make sure you dont let the taxi drivers overcharge you as aparently it only costs them £4 to fill up over there lol

Watch the women with you, my mum got dragged into a perfume shop one day which almost resulted in me kicking off at a guy, and my sister was been harrased constantly, so keep your eye out.

I think thats everything i can think of lol, have fun if you go.

Was there last year with my girlfriend and to be honest both of us would not go back. We stayed in the Viva Sharm which is about 5mins in a taxi from the centre of Sharm El Sheikh.

The hotel was very nice, although it was a bit boring, not much entertainment etc. The food was also terrible.

The locals seem very pusy and arrogant, especially when you refuse to go into their shops. We found ourself on our toes over the 2 weeks.

We went to Cairo for the day - the pyramids were excellent, everything else was a nightmare. We were also dropped by our bus for a small shopping trip and told it was very dangerous / there were a lot of pick pockets about..... staying on the bus wasnt allowed!!

Thats just my personal opinion though, you may have a great time!!

Where are you planning on staying?

Yes, our coach stopped at a couple of shopping bits near the pyramids.

There were tens of locals trying to sell everything, giving you camel rides, the lot.

And they weren't too welcoming, they just saw you as a customer and someone they can make money out of.

We were also told about the people trying to con you out of money by saying something is 10 pounds, they make you shake their hand then they say it is Sterling rather than Egyptian.

Its a nice place, just keep your wits about you :)

The weather and the sea is the main attraction. I stayed in a five star last May for one week and it was a reasonable break but nothing amazing. The food was generally okay but nothing special, but the local beer and spirits were all watered down. The diving potenteial is the best part about it, although we only snorkelled. The resort is generally very touristy and it loses its charm somewhat because of that. I wouldnt want to go back personally there are too many other places to explore, but for a relaxing week away I'd recommend it, if you can get it at the right price.

What you did, you can do pretty much in any country in the world, hardly a cultural experience :p Were you all inclusive?

Been to egypt, cairo to be specific, Cairo is a hell hole, the people are the Worst, they want to haggle for everything and just cause hassle to foreigners. they are in no way reasonable.

I mean ffs a ticket to take my camera into an attraction? what a joke!

Heh, where was the shopping trip to?

To be honest I am not sure, it was after the trip to the pyramids had ended on the way back through Cairo- The best part was a section with about 5 open front cafés together, they were screaming and basically killing each other to get us to have a drink there....

Nitemare to say the least :)
