Holloway in trouble for too many team changes

I heard him ranting on the radio an thought what a ****, who cares if you change the team, I didn't realise what the FA had said about the changes.

It's quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

I can see why the FA has concerns. The danger is it could become a two tier league with the bottom 6-7 clubs only playing to beat each other to avoid relegation. That would be sad if it happend but realistically it's hard to stop without the FA dictating teams selection which would equally damaging for the game.

If they only played to beat each other then more fool them because they'd be nailed on for relegation, most of the struggling teams' points during a season will probably come from games where they weren't expected to get anything.

Why have 25 man squads if they can't be utlized? if the Premier League want to stop this then they need to bring in a rule such as allowing only 5 changes maximum between games and apply it to the top teams as well.

There's a good article here showing examples of the top teams doing it:
http://therepublikofmancunia.com/st...over-premier-leagues-ridiculous-e20-decision/

Sometimes to the detriment of others...

May 1st 2007 – Liverpool book their place in the Champions League final after beating Chelsea 1-0.
Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Agger, Riise, Pennant (Alonso 78), Gerrard, Mascherano (Fowler 118), Zenden, Kuyt, Crouch (Bellamy 106).

May 5th 2007 – Liverpool lose 1-0 to relegation candidates Fulham
Reina, Arbeloa, Paletta, Hyypia, Insua (Finnan 75), Pennant (El Zhar 65), Alonso, Sissoko, Gonzalez (Kewell 77), Fowler, Bellamy.

Reina and Pennant are the only two players who started both games, with Pennant being subbed off on both occasions.

Out of interest, Fulham escaped relegation by one point that season, thanks to the three points gifted by Liverpool’s second string. Sheffield United were relegated in their place and haven’t returned to the Premiership since.

Where were the FA investigations back then?

Is that also when West Ham were forced to pay, what 25mil, or was it 35 mil or something mental to Sheffield Scumness, when, Liverpool were exactly as much to blame as West Ham/Tevez, or more to the point the premier league for making exactly ZERO fuss over it for months.

I still find it mad that the premier league weren't held most accountable, surely if Tevez's registration then was allowed by the league, after that point, its the leagues fault. Surely they could clearly have not allowed his registration in the first place.

Meh, people should be allowed to play whatever team they want.

You could even argue that one side playing an excessively weak team means the game has more chance to be a high scoring "show", which after all, football is entertainment.

Also, if resting players means you're more competitive over the course of the season, it means, for instance, a Champions league final could be more entertaining, or due to resting Utd are still in with a shot at the title on the final day of a season, rather than 3 weeks before.

Generally if a manager is doing whats best for the team, he's also doing whats best for the most competitive league possible.

I think roy will be charged soon after fielding polsen so many times this year.
:D

Saw in the paper today that Holloway's apologised to Big Mick for calling him a fool for doing the same thing last season. Any truth in that because I can't believe he's taking this so far if he thought it was stupid for anther manager to do it last season.

That pool team isnt exactly bad though is it?
Arbeloa > or = Finnan. Hyypia = or > a young Agger. Alonso is .. well, alonso. Sissoko ... Bellamy ..

should have won. easily.

Didn't Carlisle get fined last season for doing it and they actually won the match iirc?

Hope Holloway does get fined because he's more of a **** than Warnock and thats saying something!

So?

Strength of the team is irrelevant according to the FA, as a Blackpool side that very nearly beat Aston Villa were still considered not good enough apparently, simply because they weren't the players that played the previous game.

Now you're just being silly.

Why because my opinion doesn't match yours?

He should realise that as manager he is an ambassador for Blackpool Football Club and try and think before he opens his gob

Holloway is a legend.

It's not about your opinion matching Weebull's, it's just your opinion is wrong :p

Obviously my word is gospel.

That, and you'd have to be a serial killer to be a more dislikeable manager than Colin ****er. And there are some pretty charming serial killers out there, so that's not even a certainty.

Its ridiculous as most teams squads will be comprised of players that are good enough for the league or are showing promise of reaching that standard. To slowly drip feed players in to avoid being called up for playing a second string 11 must be quite tricky.

Expecting teams like blackpool, who are chasing a lot of games thus tiring their players faster than teams like man utd or chelsea who can rest the first team players without worry and generally control games more and as a result expend less energy is rubbish.

We cant have teams just writing off games against the big boys but I very much doubt that would happen that much. Everyone wants to beat the top 4, putting out a ragged first 11 is unlikely to put up any more resistance than a bunch of guys who are hungry to prove themselves and are fresh.
