Holly Molly, 3gb GTX595

Both AMD and nvidia's offering of a dual gpu card is going to be well over 650w for the card alone

No it won't mate, a dual GPU single pcb setup is more power efficient than 2 cards.

The GPUs will be seriously downclocked in both core and ram compared to their full fat counterparts.

As an example the 6970 is rumoured to be 900Mhz+ core whereas the 6990 is rumoured to be 775Mhz core, of course these figures must be taken with a pinch of salt but they are a good example of what we will see.

It's not really 3GB though is it? *If* (an absolutely monstrous if) they put to GF110 GPUs on one PC, I don't think anyone would have expected anything other than 1.5GB*2 really.

A 6990 should have 4GB of RAM (2*2GB really) which isn't anything special. Your 5870 2GB has more RAM than this "595".

It is also expected to have 3GB of RAM, or 1.5GB per GPU, which, if the card makes full use of the added memory, could mean one of the smoothest and fastest experiences in gaming and graphics-intensive industries.

correcto :p i cant imaging 4gb being useful at this stage, not that we know how one of those gpu's would perform with 3gb
