Homeplug and W7

So I've got a pair of homeplugs, plugged one into the mains near the router, connected the LAN cable to the router. Then went upstairs, plugged the other homeplug into the mains, cable to the NIC on the PC and.... nothing.

Tried everything I know to get the PC to talk to the router - nothing. Moved plugs to other sockets, reboot the router and the PC few times, tried static IP, DHCP, nothing.

I'm begging to think this is W7 related - anyone has any idea?

Homeplug is transparent, from the point of view of your PC it doesn't know it's there. Have you tried plugging the PC straight into the router?

Does the homeplugs have healthy looking LEDs on them?

yes, that's what I thought, but it does seem strange that it doesn't get an IP from the router.

LEDs are all green and the pair seem to be sync'ing

could be a dodgy ethernet cable or socket on the router

try cables you know work

at the very least you should be able to install the optional homeplug configuration software on the pc and see one or more of your homeplugs even if the router is not working
