As long as it's in reasonable condition it'll be fine, it's the predecessor to the CB500 used by thousands of people doing a direct access course (along with the Suzuki GS500 and Kawasaki ER5). A relatively modest amount of power means you are unlikely to be breaking any land speed records, but it'll be quicker of the mark than the vast majority of cars and should be good on fuel. Insurance will also be pretty good I would imagine.
