Honeymoon help..

We have just come back from Kuramathi Maldives, which is around 1km long and as larger very good value (compares well to even 5 star islands). Island is run by Kuoni

For a little over budget (around 5500) you get -

2 weeks
Seaplane transfers to island
Select All inclusive (unlimited use of 6 places to eat on islands, unlimited cocktails / minibar)

For the whole time you will not have to spend anything... except the odd island hopping excursion etc..

I wouldn't worry about 'nothing to do'... typical day

- get up
- walk along beach and go eat breakfast (my fave was freshly cooked chille omelette)
- snorkel abit as early am the water is crystal clear
- chill out by pool / beach
- find bar (there is 4 or 5), consume cocktails
- more snorkeling / scuba
- lunch, buffet or italian
- more snorkeling / scuba
- more cocktails
- wander around abit (more cocktails on way)
- sit by pool / beach and read abit
- siesta (and honeymoon stuff lol)
- dress into something smarter (no shoes needed though)
- more cocktails
- dinner (chinese / bbq / fish / thai / indian / italian restaurants to choose from)
- evening drinks / entertainment... live bands on island very good
- sleep

thats how every day kinda went, just heaven on earth. it's a holiday you never forget, only downside is you will never want the south of spain again. the humidity means you really don't want to do to much.. and you kinda delvelop a 'maldivian shuffle', ie - move at around 1mph tops :)

have some hol vids up on youtube which give good idea of what it's like, search for -

kuramathi maldives part 1 omgboohoo
kuramathi maldives part 2 omgboohoo
kuramathi maldives part 3 omgboohoo

everything was filmed with little panasonic lumix underwater camera, which is a must for this type of hol

Im temped by the "mixing it up" a bit. Only thing putting me off this is I hate waiting around in airports and sitting still for hours on a plane :( So this could be a problem.

Flukester, that does sound amazing mate tbh. *Goes to check out youtube videos*

:)

Booked ours a few weeks back. Maldives + Dubai. Doing the Maldives first and then a few nights in Dubai just to break up the journey back home. Can't wait.

I have researched it for ages before booking and if you want a romantic relaxing holiday then the Maldives seems to have it all but if you don't like lying on a beach doing nothing then look elsewhere.

Once your in the US the sitting around in airorts is minimised as all flights including Hawaii are internal so you don't have to check in very early. The flight to Hawaii is seriously long so breaking it for a few days in each direction makes good sense, it also reduces the impact of jet lag as you get a few days to make a midway adjustment in each direction. We did all the flights with a single airline so massed some pretty decent airmiles for later usage as well. It's a once in a lifetime holiday your going on so it seems a shame to sit on a beach for two weeks.

NY, Vegas, Hawaii. 2 weeks :)

Thats a pretty good call but I'd put Hawaii in the middle just to break up the flight. I'd go Vegas, stay in a posh room at a posh hotel to start the 'honeymoon' in style then onto a relaxing beach in the most perfect beautifull place in the world folowed by shopping and a show on the way home in NY.

Holidays don't get much better than that!

I am not suggesting Florida for a honeymoon but I just want to point out the August is not high season. August may be high season for Brits in Orlando, but Florida is more than Orlando and there are many places in Florida that will be pretty empty in August because it is too hot and humid.

Hmmm gotta figure out what me and my fiancee are doing for our honeymoon...getting married hopefully next summer so looking at maybe sept time going for the honeymoon.

Fiancee has a 2 bedroom flat in Dubai so will definitely go there for a few days but still mulling over where to go from there...thinking along the lines of fiji or bali for a few weeks.

The wife and I went to Vegas for 5 nights, Hawaii for 6 and then San Francisco for another 4 nights - highly recommended!!!

Vegas - pretty much everything to do from shows through to going to see the Grand Canyon!

Hawaii - Amazing island with soooo much to do and see! (amazing road-side stalls that sell the nicest fresh pineapple and coconut!)

San Francisco - Alcatraz, Coit Tower, Golden Gate Bridge + loads more!

I cant recommend this enough!!!!!

I can't say Maldives is that great in my experience really. It's OK if you like diving, but if you don't, it's boring to be honest. No culture, nothing to do, etc etc. Luckily I like diving, but the few days I could not dive 'cause I injured my feet, I was climbing the walls out of boredom half the time. It's also incredibly expensive compared to most other places.

I would suggest South America- Brazil, Argentina, etc. or Malaysia/ Indonesia, or somewhere like Goa/ India. All those places get you 10x more for your money.

A couple of my friends are going to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico next year, getting married on the beach followed by honeymoon.. i've seen pictures and it looks amazing. It's about £3,500, all inclusive with around 14 different restaurants, 12 bars and a jacuzzi in every bedroom. Plus, plenty to do in Mexico if you want to go exploring.

go to miami for 3-4 days then take the "Ocean of the seas" do the 1 week cruise
come back and go to Las Vegas stay there for 5 days minimum.
