SX, unfortunately
11:20 the postie arrived. That's the earliest this week, it wasn't all that long ago the post would be here by 8.

We got 11 items today. 7 aren't for us

What the hell else is going to go wrong in this country???!!!!

My post arrives at around 10-30am.

Just received via Parcelforce, a large (20kg+) electric fire with a huge glass front ........... in perfect condition, despite the fragile/handle with care stickers!! Whats going on? :D

They'll have to get there act together. As TNT will soon be in the bussines when the monoply expires. You'll allready see envolopes printed with TNT on them. As they have allready done a lot of deals with big companies. Its also what they do best they own deutch post. Its what they make most off there profit in...

Hopfully will see a price war, as well as improved services when they join.

You pay 28p or whatever first class post is for example or £4.50 for an item to be delivered anywhere in the UK for the next day and you complain if its late. Take it yourself!

Timed deliveries finished 2 years ago. Mail can arrive anytime up untill 13:15 hrs, and thats providing your delivery is not out on overtime do to staff shortages. Dont blame the postman, blame Alan Leighton and his cronies for destroying the service. Postmen and women are just as fed up with the way the service has been destroyed.

mines never before 2pm, whats that meen?

Personally, i think the mail system is okay.. It still amazes me that you can post a letter and it could be in the other side of the country the next day.

I'm out of the house by 7:30 so i never see the mail until i get home.

True, but the service was a lot better before the current price of 30p.

I would say that we shoudl stop mucking about and determine what the price really is to deliver a letter given the current infrarstructure. Then when the cost is determined add on a penny and ring fence that for investment and a penny for profit.

The price will probably be around 50-75 pence or so (as it is in other European countries), if that is the case, so be it.

Once we had next doors mail, and they had their next doors mail an so on  .

Our post didn't come till 10am for a few weeks, now its back to around 8ish... WTF is going on?

Mine comes about half 12, which i hate as i get a lot of post and rely on it and sometimes i have to stay in to get it.

I hate when they give packages to next door etc, or leave the stuff the on step!

or, throw, yes throw it over our fence onto the car in the back yard.

Late mail could be down to your delivery being out on overtime due to lack of staff, new delivery person, casual or agency staff. The service has gone down the drain and its going to get worse if and when more cost cuts are implemented, and the competition is only really interested in bussiness mail. The costs of delivering to private addresses means that it isnt lucrative enough, its only Royal Mails current infrastructure that can keep prices as low as they are now. The way things are going, I can forsee a time when people pick up their own mail from a central point similar to parts of the USA.

My postman has taken to doing just that lately, he leaves parcels inside my front wall (which is only around three feet high). I'm smack in the centre of east London, so it's hardly a sensible thing to do.

Post man comes at around 10am-12noon here. If hes got anything non recorded to post, he rings the door bell or knocks the knocker then does one. If we aint in, its left in front of the door. Anyone can see it if they walk past. Same with the back.

Now they are closing down all the post offices around here. Only got the main one in the center of town. Long trip for me with my parcels on my bike. The current one, is about 5 mins away. The one if town about 20-25mins on my bike. If I got something bigger than my bag, I usally walk. Sack walking about 35mins to the post office with a mobo or something :p

Postal service aroudn here it pretty good, postman usualy comes from 7:30-8:30am.

I have had recorded delivery items come to me and i have not had to sign for them has twice he lost it and other times he said he signed for it

Live in a rural area when in the UK and the Postal service is ace. Always get the mail before 10am (when I've been their to receive it anyway) and the postie is a great chap. You can be fairly certain of one thing thoug, the post service will be much worse for those not living in large urban areas once the like of TNT cream of the best routes. Same happened with the bus service.
