hoping to travel round thailand - carry on bag

I've learnt to travel with the basics over the years as my scuba kit takes up 90% of my allowance. :D

Thailand isn't some backward place full of mud huts.
There are launderettes dotted about. 20 baht for a machine wash.
7-11 shops for sundries and billions of clothes shops selling towels, t shirts, shorts.

Edit: also, make sure you travel in the bulkier items (hoody/jeans for me) to free up bag room.

That's really good advice, you could go on the plane wearing a couple of tshirts and a jumper/jacket and then just take it off when you're in your seat, might be able to get a couple of extra kilos that way. But then you'll have to find something to do with the stuff when you're over there. You can buy small foldable shoulder bags which pack very small but are pretty good bags for smaller stuff should you need the extra room.

Have fun on your holiday.
