hi guys

spec of my machine:

E4300 1.8ghz overclocked at 2.4ghz
4GB ram
asrock dual-coreSATA2 rev2.0 mobo
64GB SSD
nvidia 6800GT

get perfect screen on XP, but get really horrible artifacting(sp?) on vista and win7, using nvidia driver, dunno why. sometime when booting up, i cant see the logon screen very well.

why?

thanks

Do you have the driver installed in XP?

I had an old ATI 9800 that would artefact terribly in vista but not in XP until I installed the drivers. Standard display adaptor in XP would not show the problem. Card is either overheating or Video memory has failed I would say. I am guessing the XP standard display adaptor does not use much video memory so avoided the faulty area of memory.

I believe vista and windows 7 install the full driver from the start.

I had exactly this problem with an Asrock Dual-VSTA motherboard. Using an AGP NVidia 7600. In the end I upgraded to a PCI-Express ATI 4850 and the problem was sorted. After that I upgraded to an Asus motherboard and have never looked back. If I were you, I'd wait slightly longer untill the ATI 57x0 or 56x0 cards come out and get one of those. Should also be a nice upgrade.
Asrock are usually buget boards that pack in lots of features, but have their fair share of quirks too.
