Anyone know the best way to do this microwave style. I do it and its ok but wondering if theres any really good way to do this in the microwave.

I dunno, but I put a couple of heaped teaspoons cocoa into a mug, then a couple of teaspoons of sugar, followed by a small amount of milk (or up to half a mug) then mix into a cocoa-sugar milk paste, then add hot water to the top and mix again. Usually comes out OK, pretty good if you don't have much milk too. Who doesn't have a kettle after all?

You must have a seriously sweet tooth, the powder alone is enough for me!

You need to mix as much as you can before you introduce a microwave, as the cocoa seems to settle on top, and then burn, your best bet to be honest is a strong whiskk or a blender.

Ooh. I didn't know you could get unsweetended stuff. I like bitter chocolate with a cup of tea at night. I'd like to try it "all in one" :)

Put enough milk for a mug in the microwave and heat.
While that is heating put the powder in the mug you will use, add a bit of water and make a paste (add sugar if you wish)
When milk is ready, pour into the mug with the paste in while stirring.
Add additional milk/sugar to taste.

The instant powders contain powdered milk (or something like that) so they can be made with water where as cocoa needs more milk. Instant usually has sweetener in it as well.

Hmmm maybe I will make one tonight.

Its this kinda stuff. Proper cocoa powder. Which really needs sugar added as tastes not too good without it. Imo.

Excellent! I'll be getting some of that.

Ideally I'd like Fairtrade, non-organic, GM cocoa powder. But that's maybe too much to ask. :)

That's exactly what Bournville is ;)

For the ultimate hot cocoa:

Green & Blacks cocoa x 1 heaped teaspoon,
Channel Island Full-Fat Milk x 1 mug (heated in a pan)

Enjoy :D

Actually the best possible hot chocolate you can get is literally melted chocolate with milk/cream! :D

However, that can be impractical and very calorie intensive.

Just made my 2nd tonite, this time i just did ss milk in a pint glass (i like a lot) did it on full whack in 800w microwave for 2 mins. Took it out added tablespoon of cocoa and sugar gave really good stir. Stuck in the microwave for another min and gave it another good stir. Came out nice. :) Was delish. Defo doesnt beat how my mum makes it with the pan but still for a quick hot chocy it aint bad. :)
