Housemates made my chicken go off!

Or how about live with people you like, who won't mess up the house?

I'm in Halls as a first year and everyone is very good, there's rarely noise after about 11pm and if someone has an issue, they just say and it goes away. Perhaps I'm lucky? (or bristol is classy :p)

Well, I've had it pretty good up until now. The problem is, when you go to the pub with mates, or out to the cinema people can seem perfectly normal, however when you live with them they turn out to be a bad egg.

As in 1-2 people would leave torrents going 24x7 resulting in ~1 second latency and pages taking forever to load and/or timing out several times before loading. Or just not bothering to turn them off and they knew full well how to schedule DLs overnight.

You'd bring it up with them and they'd maybe be considerate for a 2-3 days then back to not giving a crap about anyone else trying to use the internet - until actually threatened with physical harm at which point strangely enough they were quite considerate for several months.

Seems a bit, errr, dramatic.

Had exactly the same problem last year. Not much you could do. I had a word with the other 4 just to ensure that everyone closes the freezer.

As for tidying up, i had one flat mate who used to wash his plates and that once a month. Used to go home for the weekend and leave everything out in the kitchen. In the end we decided to start putting his dirty plates back in his cupboard. It would make the kitchen look cleaner. Also was a right laugh when he came home saw the clean kitchen, went into his cupboard assuming we had all cleaned his plates only to find dirty ones.

My friends stayed over once, and drank the entire contents of my housemate's coke fridge, "for a laugh", knowing he'd rage on me.

Man up and tell them or bend over and take it.
