how are your pets responding to the weather?

ohh i lovw throwing snowballs at cats, also building a igloo and placing the cat inside the build up the doorway so it stays in there..

kills to stones for the price of one if you know what i mean, as they are always spraying and pooping on our lawns

High five.

2 of our cats are loving it especially the oldest one, runs a round it it meowing then tries to catch the snow lol.

the youngest she goes out but keeps lifting her paws then tries to find away around it - bless her even if she does its like that every where

One cat seems to be sitting by the catflap a lot, deciding whether or not to go out. He's only been out a few times. Haven't noticed the other one, but I would imagine she is loving it.

I throw snowballs at my Cocker Spaniel and he attempts to eat them. The best is when I throw a snowball, he runs after it, snowball hits the ground and he then can't find it, scurrying around the garden with his nose to the floor.

One of my cats was not impressed, however its made hunting a little easier :)

I had noticed that there are an unusual number of birds around and then lo and behold, our tabby, Noodles, brought in a thrush. It was still alive, but not able to fly, so we've put it in the rabbit hutch for the night as the rabbit is in its indoors run this evening. Not sure what we'll find in the morning.........................................:(

The dog goes manic when he goes out - last 2 days he keeps whining to go out and play....throw a lump of ice and he chases it about for hours!!!

The chickens are well chuffed off and stay in their run (undercover) instead of wondering round.

The quails just dig in deeper to the straw!

Our Cat Molly stays inside most of this time of year only venturing out if she wants to go to the Loo, she spends most of her day sleeping.

Our Guinea Pigs are all wrapped up in a proper Hutch Warmer, they're still happy as Larry although we're having to check their water before we go to bed and when we get up as they're normally frozen lol!

The dogs love the snow. Although they appreciate the fireplace when they get inside.

Botox loves catching snowballs.

The little one did get a bit chilly on our walk today though.

The ducks are going ok - considering they are outside 24-7.

I keep having to give them warm water in their bowl so they actually have something drinkable.

Haven't got any pets that would go out in the snow myself, but friends have.

One of their dogs just can't wait to get outside, she knows somethings "going on" and wants to investigate.

Those ducks are awesome. I'd be scared they'd fly away.
They can fly away, there's nothing stopping them. However they dont even venture to the end of the garden. They're very timid creatures. They've got their pond - which they love, regular food and shelter - and dried worms. They're happy.

The only time they 'fly' is first thing in the morning when I let them out their hutch. They run round out their enclosure and fly down the garden to our house as they know they'll get some worms there.

My dogs have a dog flap, so go out in the garden whenever they like. They get on fine with the ducks. In fact, the ducks are very territorial about their patch and they see the dogs off. Botox usually ignores them, but they give it a go. :p

I originally got three of them as little chicks and they were familiarised with the dogs straight away, but sadly one died in the first week. The other two grew up and became really happy and confident in their surroundings. I could stroke them and pick the white one up without too much fuss - and I was getting an egg a day from them.

However about a month ago we had a fox attack. I lost one duck and the white one was badly hurt. We didn't think she'd pull thorough, but after a few days she hadn't died, but was clearly not herself and lonely - so fortunately we sourced another duck to keep her company. The mallard coloured one is new so is not used to us. But having him around has perked the white one up again. She's not laying eggs yet, but - as you can see form the photo - is now eating from our hands and venturing out into the garden again.

Oh and if anyone is thinking of getting ducks as a pet - they are a LOT of work. I have to clean the pond pump out every night (ie clean poo out of the filter by hand) and they need cleaning out and feeding daily! They poo so much its unbelievable!
