How can I install windows without a PS2 port?

You could use a PS2 to USB converter.
Or get a new keyboard.

Either way i think you have to buy something to get it working.

Neither of those would help.

I am using a USB keyboard which works fine in windows, but you cant use USB until AFTER windows loads, thus making it impossible for me to boot from CD.

Try a CMOS reset, and hope that your bios defaults to USB 'Legacy' devices enabled. Which allows your USB keyboard to work in bios, and before windows boots.

The large majority of motherboards fully support USB keyboard in bios, although some disable the keyboard between bios and booting if the USB legacy option is disabled.

Have you tried getting into bios using the usb keyboard? If that works just look for the legacy option and turn it on.

You should be able to get into the bios using a USB keyboard even if Legacy Mode is off.

Did I see somewhere that the latest shuttles dont have ps2 sockets?

There should be a way to install windows without a ps2 keyboard or this could be the design flaw of the century! :p

PK!

just agreeing with the above, USB support doesnt matter on any mobo with usb ports until boot. USB KB will work fine to get into CMOS/BIOS then set USB Legacy or similar to enable, presto. Caught me out a few times before now :)

confirmed

I concur. My mobo had legacy usb set to disabled, but I was still able to use my G15 USB keyboard to press delete to get into BIOS.

I can't really say if it worked after the POST (ie when you need to press a key to boot off CD)

yup, usb keyboard support always works at boot regardless of the setting in the bios..

The option in the bios only affects how it works after the boot process is finished (IE do you want the bios to control it, or OS), set it to bios and it will work fine.
