How can't you have a TV licence?

The BBC TV Licencing "enforcers" are nothing more than salesmen. Like anyone in sales, unless you give them something in writing they will happily ignore your requests to be left alone.

And they aren't even from the BBC, they are outsourced. What led to the angry letter I mentioned was a TV licencing bloke asking to be let in, being let in (I have no TV) and then getting a letter saying I was found to be watching BBC1 at the time, so pay up. It even told me that I had a silver Wharfedale TV.
Next backup letter said I was watching ITV at the time, and had a completely fabricated statement from the "Inspector" - this time I had a black Sony TV, and actually called the inspector some very impolite names while giving this "statement". So pay up or it's court for you, sonny.
So I wrote to Pipa Longhurst, said that I would see them in court, and got a very apologetic letter in return saying there must have been an error, and I could remove/rescind their implied right of access to my property. No letters or knocks on the door since - and I have a Sky dish and a normal aeriel, both plainly visible from the road!
