Simple question really, how did you get it.

a) Did you see it advertised in a jobs section in the newspaper.
b) Did you go via a job agency such as reed
c) Did you phone up the company and say "Giz us a job" (like me :) )
d) Other

Both IT type jobs i've had were with (c), this included my placement year. It's a very cheeky thing to do, and 90% of the time you'll get a no answer, but i've found it to be the most effective way for me so far.

So folks how did you get your job?

i just applyed a the place where my friend was, a funny story for the interview actually...it was the morning after the last day of highschool...so we had a house party and i slept in a field...my mum rang me and said i had an interview in the morning....i went in....still rather drunk...came out with the job lol

Walked into an agency and started at the company the next Monday.

A couple of months after that I moved internally into a decent position there and I'm still here nearly 4 years later.

A friend of a friend of a friend was asking for someone who could drive a 7.5 tonner as they'd been let down by an agency driver. That got me a weeks work; and then a week later I got a phone call asking me if I wanted the job!

Then the company went and lost the sodding contract! :(

Spent two months at university doing the 'Milkround'. Applied to many companies, got snapped up by IBM.

It seens simple now, but at the time i found it more stressful than finals.....

I saw the advert in a newspaper and was forced to apply by my Mother because "it will be good interview experience".

There were apparently 28 applicants originally and I've been there 2 years now. :p

Spammed agencies with my CV and introductory letters, ended up being interviewed by two agencies, both of whom managed to get me interviews the same week.

Got offered both positions too :D

Posted CV on Monster, and got offered an interview by my company (Openwave Systems). Was offered the job a month later. Been there since Feb :)

On Uni exit I applied to join the National Grid Graduate scheme, after three 6 month placements and lots of hard work I started on £18k and 5 years later have worked my work up to a Project Planner.
Last year I applied to join the Olympic 2012 Project Team but didn't get it due to lack of experience :(

Life is hard and the knock backs can be tough but you have to keep your motivation to succeed :)

:: EDIT ::
I almost forgot to mention that that 2 years ago I started Semi-Pro Photography and it's proving a lot harder to get my foot on the ladder than I thought it would.

1st - Applied online at Morrisons and got invited to an interview eventually
2nd - Wrote to local businesses and ended up on a 1 week rolling contract at a factory which lasted for 3 months.

Currently writing to employers in the local area + checking job adverts to get a new job.

First job was at Index, got the job through my Cousin who worked there at the time, quick interview to see if I had some braincells, and that was it.

My placement year job before university was through the year in industry scheme, so sending my details through them, and then them sending my details off to lots of companies, then being picked out for interview/assessment.

I'm doing that at the moment, waiting on companies to give me interviews, all through applying online through their placement schemes.

With my current part time job, I just went on the website to see if there were any vacancies. There was one for my area so I uploaded my CV and had to fill in some questions about how I worked in a team, had to name times when I felt like I'd accomplished something etc. Sent that off. Realised I'd sent the wrong CV and thought 'Aaaargh'.
Then got an email later to offer me a telephone interview :o Had the telephone interview where I found out they hadn't actually read my CV anyway...Got through that and went onto a proper interview in a store, which went fantastic. Think it helped that i spent half of it talking about games with the guy interviewing me :o

Interview was on the Thursday, got offered the job on the Monday iirc :)

While I was job hunting I think I tried everything, applied to jobs listed, applied speculatively, and joined an agency (Although that turned out to be useless).

I have to agree with this I'm afraid, I have NOTHING good to say about agencies, not to mention I wouldn't trust any of them.

Im currently trying to set out to work on my own so hopefully i did it thru my self :D

Altho i did work with my dad for last 4years in building trade so quite obvious how i got into it :)

I work for Central Networks (previously Midlands Electricity).

My old man was my manager’s manager:D Seriously though I was the best candidate for the job and over the last 5 years I’ve worked there I have by far exceeded my manager’s expectations.

I am the ultimate bad ass

I sent a letter to the company along with my CV asking if they had any suitable jobs, they replied saying yes and invited me to an interview.
One week later I started work :)

By being leet.

Seriously...I went to the interview and they went 'OMG JOOR THEH LEET!!! WORK FOR US!"""!!!"'

And I was like 'yeah, whatever.'

Then I rocked out on a guitar while boning a supermodel.
