how dirty is your motor?

Doesn't seem to be an issue with me, yeah the car looks a state but its immaculate inside which is where I spend my time.

My van however very different, it seems to get bloody filthy so I drive it through the van wash every other day as I get in and out of it all day long and brush along the side of it. Also stops kids writing obscenities in the dirt!

I'll try and get a pic of my Clio tomorrow using my Symbian based Nokia E72 device.

Doesn't have the same ring to it:(

I think I'll win! A whole brake pads worth of dust on the front wheels and 6k miles of general crud up the side.

If not, I'll get pics of the 406 SRI which I've acquired as I managed to break it, which still has all the soot on the rear end from the last turbo and now a lot of oily residue from putting a hole in the sump! Still plods on though :p

I cleaned my new car every week after I got it.

Haven't bothered for a month now though, and it's getting grubby.

Doesn't really bother me that much, I don't feel the need to drag myself along the car to get in or out of it and so the dirt doesn't really transfer to my clothes - and the boot is designed so you don't have to touch the outside of it to close it.

pretty clean, my car is parked up at work close to a steel works - there is all kinds of nasty dust that comes over from it. It has ruined the glass on the front our building so I'm scared to let any build up on the paintwork of the car.

You missed my point. I didnt mean how can you not spend 3 hours out there with the detailing spray going mad.

I meant how can you not get so totally sick of getting your hands filthy every time you touch any part of the car that you don't cave in and chuck 3 quid at the automatic carwash?

I once had a loan car for 6 weeks. It wasnt mine, I didnt care at all what it looked like but I had to wash it twice just because I was sick of needing a wash every time I opened the boot or accidently brushed alongside it getting into it in a carpark, etc etc.

Presumably you clean your bathroom every so often, why not the car as well? Dirty stuff sucks?

How do you manage to get the car so dirty?

I drive mine all the time, haven't cleaned it since Julyish, done 3500 miles or so since then and it's fine when opening the boot and fine when brushing alongside it in a car park/whatever.

Don't understand how people manage to make their cars so dirty.

Where the hell do you people go??
Or are you all those sort of drivers who spend half the time driving so close to the left hand side of the road they're partly in the hedge?

So you've got a silver car too? :p

It annoys me too. I keep seeing absolutely filthy cars on the road with a big row of hand/fingerprints on the boot lid... They must either get through a lot of hand-wash or they are simply dirty buggers :p

I really have precious little time to clean my car nowadays. It's something in the back of my mind, but unless I clean it after 7pm im pretty buggered time-wise.

Really need to sort the interior out though, too many unidentified food items in the back seat. Rewards of having a 4 and 1 year old...

I've washed my mondeo once since i got it in July*shame :(*

I really cba washing it atm, it's filthy

Drive it up Motorways in the rain :(

Do you guys leave rooms in your house, bathroom, clothes etc dirty as well? What does your desk look like? :p

No :) Much easier to clean and keep tidy than something out in the open readily gaining dirt/grime. Plus the wife deals with that...

Not cleaning things = internet cool points.

What's the point in having alloys Matt if you just allow years of brake dust to ruin the appearance and corode? Some of you guys are even into styling mods and claim to care how a car looks yet ruin that by leaving them covered in crud?

I don't really get it.

A jet wash once a month is 10 minutes of your time?
