How do I change from Xbox gold account to silver?

I've let my gold subscription expire because I wanted to use a one month gold code that I got with my Xbox webcam. I've tried to set it back up with the code but it says my account is suspended. The card that the code is printed on says that I need to have a silver membership level to be able to use the code.

Basically, I'm stuck! I can't seem to get silver status to use the code and if I want to play online I'll have to put in my bank details again. At that point I'll be back on gold and not able to use the code. Any suggestions? Should it revert to silver automatically or do I have to do something?

It will only revert to silver automatically if you have never used your Credit card to purchase live or anything from market place iirc

So is there anyway I can get it to change to silver so that I can take advantage of this code I have?

If you have used your Credit card then the only way to do it would be to phone them. If they have your CC details they will simply keep sucking money for a gold account until you phone them. Allowing the card to expire dosnt work either as I believe a member on here had trouble with a suspended account due to this.

Basically my advice is phone them although perhaps somebody else will come up trumps for you.

Just give them a ring, i rang them a few days ago and asked to remove my monthly gold subs and turn it silver. Was a 2min phone call and very easy.

No more xdead360 for me

I find the best way is to buy a gold card on eBay, they usually email you the code so no delivery and they're a few quid cheaper... last thing I wanna do is give M$ my credit card details
