How do I 'day trade' stocks?

Great thread :)
I recently opened a Forex.com practise account to try and get my head around 'the markets'. The 50,000 moolas are starting to burn a hole in my virtual pocket.

Has anyone done well out of spread betting? I keep seeing loads of adverts for it and I'm intrigued, looks like you can set a cap to ditch whatever you're betting on if it falls below a certain number of points to stop you loosing too much.

Yes doing great but I also lost £4500 last Tuesday due to my own self greed. Saw it whittle away in the space of 15 minutes right in front of my eyes - I could have saved a grand or two but had hopes of a rebound LOL !!!! If you can stomach the losses or can handle the nerves of being 2 grand down when away from your trading desk then GO FOR IT

However if you're not greedy and are content with £100-300 a day then stick to that but as others have said - it can soon spiral out of control and you start investing big.

The only tip I can give you is ' Buy at bargain prices ' - If you keep bang up to date with the news and watch the markets carefully you'll spot them. You'll also learn how to spot over priced stock.

Look carefully at the way stock moves in the pre/post market ie 7am-8am Pre FTSE

2:25 Pre Wall Street is a lot of fun where you see stock trying to pre-empt moves.

8pm-9pm Wall Street close is always fun too. Watch the sell off or rally towards the closing bell.

Oh and make sure you understand what they're talking about on Bloomberg TV, if you don't have a clue please don't do it :D

PPS Day trading is far from easy or as glamorous as the ads make out it to be. You could be working 18-20 hour days and it'll screw you bad. You'll wake up in the middle of the night just to check what Asia is doing and you may find behavioural changes to your persona also.

PPPS Don't expect to win all the time. Once I worked my guts out all day and night and what did I have to show for it ? I think I was +£5 LOLS !
