How do I know whether my Firewire card is 400 or 800?

As the title above please. I have a firewire card that's just over 4 years old. I have lost all the manuals etc and it's just a PCI card. I want to get an external hard drive but am not sure whether to get a USB 2 one, or a Firewire one.

Firewire 800 is not that old so it will be 400.
