How do I publish my site?

The hostname relates to the hosting company as opposed to your domain, my hostname is ns1.streamlinedns.co.uk because my hosting company is streamline.net, so anyone who uses streamline as a host would have the same nameserver as me, 123-reg will have their own nameserver, I'm assuming the hosting you have taken out is branded as 123-reg?

To get Domain and Host to communicate, you set the nameservers on the domain control panel to relate to your host, then you log into your host and add your domain.

Really lost here :(

So what you're saying is that I need to leave the ns.123-reg.co.uk, ns2.123-reg.co.uk
as they are? In doing so I won't have changed anything? (these were here the whole time)

Now I understand you saying that I need to get the nameservers on the domain control panel to relate to my host, how exactly do I do this if I have to leave the hosting company as the nameservers?

I'm being advised to use Filezilla, do I need to do this? I thought i had already published the site with Rapidweaver?

Apologies if I've confused things! I'll see if I can clear it up :)

For a website to work, you need two things, a domain and a host (which you have)
They are two separate things which are not linked by default

So the domain can talk to your host, you set up the nameservers, your domain will then be ready to accept comm's from your host in the next step
By default, your host is an eHarddrive with no filepath. Your domain will be the filepath but first it needs to be assigned. You assign the filepath by logging into your hosting control panel and adding your domain.
As your domain and hosting were provided by the same company, it could be possible that it was all setup automatically, and all you have to do is wait 24//48 hours for everything to communicate with each other.

If there is an export feature in rapidweaver then I would also recommend filezilla, it is much better than software which is built into a web designing program.

Very helpful post!

I think this is most likely! I'll wait 48 hours and If it's still not published I'll be back to annoy you some more :D

www.sharpant.co.uk
is there so you have done most things right!
Trouble is, there are no files on it, just directories.

/AS
/AS/Page1
/AS/Page2
etc.

You will need to publish you site again and make sure it copies the html files to your server.

I've been on msn for a while going through how to set it all up but it has been a royal pain in the rear.

We got to a point where it was all done but the files were uploaded via filezilla and in a sub directory instead of the root (an accident). I could get them moved into the root but it just wouldn't work for Gustov (I could have left them there but wanted Gustov to get it working from his end). There ended up being over 100k queued files? We decided to delete what was there and retry via rapidweaver. I proceded to delete all the file in the subdirectory, they deleted but the folders won't budge. I renamed the folder, won't budge, tried everything. They are not write protected either.

Gustov is now trying to re connecti in rapidweaver but it won't let him connect now (same settings as before), however I can connect perfectly fine in filezilla ftp...

Couldn't upload the local file "public_html/page6/files" to "/public_html/public_html/page6/files/page6-movie-0.mov" on the remote FTP server. The server replied with an FTP error code of 221 ("Goodbye.").

NcFTP returned -175: file transfer buffer has not been allocated.

Hey Lakeland, it published with success last night via rapid weaver but it still says 'coming soon'? :(

Any chance you're free to talk about it later today? Need to hand it in on Monday!

I've logged into filezilla and the files are all there!?

Seriously losing it here!

hi mate im at work at the mo but I think I know whats up, the files you uploaded are a sub directory in the root, you need the home page I.e. index.html in the root will speak tonight if that didn't make sense!

sorry that reads
Code:
http://www.sharpant.co.uk/public_html/Youtube%20links%20x/index.html

so you have uploaded your site to the youtube directory of a previous try.
I don't know how your software works for uploads but there is usually a root locations property which is the one you need to set to public_html

I'm not sure why you can't delete the files/directories?
